Who are authorized to use the Vidyasagar University Central Library?


All P.G.students, faculty members and staff (administrative and ministerial) of this university are authorized to use the library. Student alumni, retired staff members and visiting faculties also have the privilege to use the central library after enrolling themselves as library members on fulfilling the requisite procedure.

Are the ex-students of this university can avail the library book lending facility?


No, book lending facility is not allowed for ex-students, but they can avail the reference facility for some specific period.

What kinds of facilities can an external member get from the university library?


Any authorized external member, besides the reading and reference facilities, can also avail the Xerox facility within the library by maintaining the reprographic rules of the library.

How an external user from other institution can use the Vidyasagar University Central Library?


Members from any institution which has an institutional membership with the V.U. central library, can use this library with borrowing facility. Members of other institutions (not having institutional membership) can also use this library after being duly forwarded by the head of their institutions.

Can external students avail the internet facility?


Yes, external students, who used to enroll themselves as library members, can avail internet facility on fulfilling the requisite procedures and maintaining the rules framed for this purpose.

How an ex-student of Vidyasagar University can become an alumni member of the university central library?


To become an alumni member of the university central library the ex-students of this university should apply to the librarian after being forwarded by the head of the department where he / she was a student.

What materials can be Xeroxed?


Only the documents belonging to the university library can be Xeroxed. Entire book, periodical, thesis, etc. can not be Xeroxed as it violates the reprographic copyright rule.

Can any journal be issued to a library member?


No journals (current or bound) are permitted to issue to any category of library user.

Can a library user bring his personal books or other reading materials to the library?


No, users are not allowed to bring their personal books or other reading materials to the library. Those are to be deposited at the property counter before entering into the library.

How can one get library clearance certificate?


Library clearance certificate is provided to the user either at the time of completion of his course of study or whenever migrated to other institutions. In all cases the users will have to surrender the library cards after clearing the dues, if any.
